BoatCode new HIN application

- For the issuing and affixing a new BoatCode HIN (hull identification number) to a suitable vessel

- Applies to any powered recreational vessel that is registered

- For vessels that are either brand new and need a HIN before initial licencing or:

- For vessels that were built before HIN's became compulsory for new builds and new imports in 2001 and do not have a HIN

- For vessels imported from overseas that dont have a HIN or dont have an approved HIN

- All vessels that are sold and require the transfer of registration require a HIN before the transfer can be processed by the Department of Transport.

BoatCode HIN verification

- For verifying a HIN that is attached to a registered vessel where the HIN doesnt appear on the registration certificate

- For verifying a HIN that is attached to a unregistered vessel where a pink HIN certificate is needed for registration purposes

- For verifying a HIN attached to an interstate registered vessel that is to be registered and used in WA

- For verifying a HIN attached to an imported vessel that is to be registered in WA

- For verifying a HIN attached to a vessel where the registered length of the vessel has been changed

Boat Check WA charges the WA Department of Transport prescribed fees for new HIN issuing and verification for vessels on site at our premises in Maida Vale, WA.

For on site HIN issuing and verification, we charge the DOT specified fee and a travel fee.

*Please note, we do not issue HIN's or verify HIN's for free, over the phone, online, or via email. You must book to bring your boat to us or have our BoatCode provider visit you. Travel fees apply for on-site applications and verifications.
